chapter I - The Hat
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (okay, maybe not that far), there was a little Semih. He had big dreams, even bigger hat, and a knack for turning life's ordinary moments into something extraordinary.
Hey there! I'm Semih Alar, your friendly neighborhood composer and sound designer. I'm the guy who'll make your game, film, or whatever you're cooking up sound absolutely chef's kiss. I don't stick to one style because real pros adapt to the vibe and vision of their clients so that's what I do! From epic soundtracks to those little sound effects that make all the difference, I'm all in.
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (okay, maybe not that far), there was a little Semih. He had big dreams, even bigger hat, and a knack for turning life's ordinary moments into something extraordinary.
Fast forward to a cozy afternoon. Picture me on a couch, one arm tucked under my head, fast asleep. Clearly, this was pre-coffee Semih. It was a simpler time when naps were my go-to recharge strategy. Little did I know that one day, caffeine would become my best friend, helping me power through those late-night composition sessions. Spoiler alert: I'm much more awake these days!
Music found me early. Imagine tiny me, sitting at the keyboard, fingers hovering over the keys, playing tunes for my grandpa. It was my first "concert," and he rewarded my efforts with a whole euro. A star was born, folks! That was the moment I realized that making music could be more than just fun—it could be rewarding, too. Little did I know, that euro was just the beginning.
Now, let's talk about focus—serious focus. There's a picture of me, laser-focused on my PlayStation 1. My concentration levels were off the charts. At that moment, nothing else existed but me and the game. Who knew those intense gaming sessions were the early days of my music and sound design career? I certainly didn't, but hey, looking back, it all makes sense. (Also, side note: I'm still not that great at the game, but we'll keep that between us.)
Speaking of games, one of my earliest memories involves me, at about one year old, already making my mark in the gaming world. Okay, maybe my dad was holding me up with one hand while guiding my little hand to bop those moles with the other, but still—it counts, right? Let's just say my gamer journey started young, and it's been one wild ride ever since.
But life wasn't all about games. I had my moments of elegance too. There's me, grinning from ear to ear on a white horse, feeling like a true champion. No medals for me in equestrian sports, but that day, I was on top of the world. Sure, it was just a casual ride, but I totally nailed that "gallant rider" look. (No need to mention that my equestrian career was short-lived—let's focus on the wins, shall we?)
Then, of course, there's my early foray into the world of fashion and performance. Dressed to the nines—black pants, black shirt, purple vest, white bow tie—the works. Ready for my first stage performance at the tender age of 4-5. I was already stealing the show before I even knew what that meant. Look out, world, here I come!
My adventures weren't limited to the stage. I had a need for speed, too. Picture me in a red shirt and shorts, expertly navigating a tricky turn on a special track. At 6 years old, I was already drawn to the thrill of motorsports. It was just me, my little motorbike, and the open track—a match made in heaven. And that tricky turn? Nailed it, of course!
And then there's the classic moment: little Semih in a yellow cap, driving a gray Jeep with serious swagger. I'm talking full-on "I'm in charge" mode. My sister was walking beside me, probably trying to keep up with my coolness (kidding, she's the best), but in my mind, I was the star of that show. Looking back, I was clearly practicing for my future role as a creative lead!
Me, rocking sunglasses, buried under a blanket, reading a book. I was totally not channeling Ray Charles vibes—well, maybe a little! It was just me and my book, lost in another world, enjoying the peace and quiet of a good story. Little did I know that those quiet moments would one day translate into my love for creating immersive soundscapes.
And then, the grand finale: the time I stood on a blue diaper box to reach the countertop. Yes, that's right—I engineered a solution to my height problem. Problem-solving skills, people! Trust me, I've been figuring things out since day one. That moment right there? It's proof that when I set my mind to something, I get it done. And yes, I'm a bit taller now, so no need to worry about that anymore.
So, that's me—part musician, part problem-solver, all heart. Whether it's making epic soundtracks, designing immersive soundscapes, or just finding creative ways to reach new heights (literally), I'm all in. And if you've made it this far, congrats—you now know the story behind the music!

A Hidden Track: Arrhythmia
Welcome to the quirkiest corner of my website! You’ve just discovered a hidden gem—my track “Arrhythmia.” Inspired by the post-avant-garde movement, this piece reflects my 24-hour heart rate monitoring session. And I promise, it’s never been used in any game or movie! (Yes, that was a joke)
Imagine being inside an arrhythmic heart. What would you hear? How would it sound? This track attempts to answer those very questions through the art of sound. Just a little heads-up: it might not be the most pleasant listening experience, but hey, it’s all about the he-art!
Of course, the creation and story behind this piece are much longer, but I don’t want to bore you with the details. After all, that’s not what this site is about!
